SUMMARY:The  Spark:  When the Past Finds You with Jewish Genealogy Society
DESCRIPTION:Eli will be sharing stories and lessons from visiting ancestral towns in Ukraine\, Belarus\, Poland and Lithuania\, conducting genealogical research and uncovering oral histories. He discusses how a musician can discover untold family stories and transform them into song\, turn oral history into living art and preserve memory through music. The talk features excerpts from his album Past Lives\, in which his real family cassette tape interview recordings become part of the songs \nThis one-hour program\, conducted over Zoom at 1:30 pm EDT\, is free for members. This is one of the many activities that is a benefit of JGSGW membership. \nEli Lev is an indie folk musician\, storyteller\, and family historian based in Silver Spring\, Maryland. His work explores ancestry\, memory\, and identity through music and narrative. His album Past Lives weaves real family archival recordings into original songs\, bringing genealogical research and oral history to life. SUMMARY:The Art of Mordecai Ardon with Jewish Art Education
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Ardon’s 130th Birthday with Jewish Art Education through this virtual public program! \nMordecai Ardon was born in Galicia (now Poland) and studied with Paul Klee at the Bauhaus in Germany during the 1920s. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933.  He painted the landscape as a mystical and luminescent experience and paid homage to Jerusalem.
