Rachel: What brought you to DC?
Sarah: After I graduated from college, I started working at L&M Policy Research, a health care policy research firm.  I’ve always been interested in health care, so it’s great to be able to work on it during such an exciting time.

Rachel: What is your favorite thing about the DC Jewish community?
Sarah: How welcoming everyone has been!  I’ve met so many interesting people at every event and learned about a lot of new organizations.  It can be hard to move to a new city without knowing a lot of people so I’m glad to have found a new avenue to meet people.

Rachel: What is your favorite Jewish holiday?
Sarah: Rosh Hashanah.  I have such great memories of making big dinners with my friends in college.  Everyone would cook in their own tiny kitchen and then we would all have to run around campus trying to get all the food prepared and actually in the same kitchen in time for dinner.  Plus, everyone would make their own family recipes and it was great to see how every family had their own little tweaks to a recipe. 292558_3190893221742_133341446_n

Rachel: What is your favorite Jewish food?
Sarah: Matzoh ball soup, hands down.  (This was what I made for the Rosh Hashanah dinners in case you were wondering.)

Rachel: Who is the coolest Jew?
Sarah: Obviously Rachel Giattino!  She jumped into working at Gather the Jews with 150% of her energy, while at the same time meeting everyone in the DC Jewish community (or at least it seems like she knows everyone!).  I am so impressed at how quickly she immersed herself in the DC Jewish scene, not only by meeting everyone but by always thinking of new events and ways to make the community even stronger!  Plus, have you met her?  She is the definition of cool! (Editor’s note: Thanks, Sarah!!!)
