The Arlington County Fair, which kicked off on Wednesday, will be going on until Sunday. In addition to rides, food, and outdoor evening movie showings, a number of Jewish organizations, such as Etz Hayim, will be there.
GTJ regular contributor Erika E. will also have a booth there, promoting her business, A Little Nudge. She encourages people to come out, noting that there are a lot of crafts and “good people-watching” opportunities, too. Check out Erika’s column every Thursday on GTJ.
Gather the Jews’ own Mike Weinberg will be heading there, with a number of friends, Saturday afternoon at around 1:45 p.m. just in time to watch the pig races, which run at 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m, and at other times (complete schedule pdf or web versions.) Yes, we know that this activity might seem treif, but as Weinberg so aptly puts it: “We will be watching the pigs, not eating them.” If interested in meeting up with the group, contact Mike@gatherdc.org. [Editor’s note: We emphasize that this it not a formal GTJ gathering, as it takes place on Shabbat.]
For those young professionals with children, Jordi at Shalom Nova notes that the fair is a great activity for families with kids.
