HOW:  Sign up here today!

Yachad (Hebrew for “together”) mobilizes the resources of the Washington-area Jewish community to repair and rebuild lower-income neighborhoods.  Their planned event for young professionals is only a small part of the good work they do in the DC area.

Earlier this week, they kicked off their seventh annual Ramp It Up project.  This project, running from June 20 to 24, supervises teens in building access ramps onto the homes of disabled homeowners in need.  Kendra Rubinfeld, Yachad Program Director, says that the project gives recipients – who currently have to be carried into and out of their homes by relatives – “the gift of an independent life.”  But it also gives a lot to the teenage volunteers, Rubinfeld adds, noting the pride and joy that many previous participants reported after seeing the effects of their completed projects.
